Steffi Klenz and fellow artist friend Clare Strand could not meet during the Covid pandemic. They decided to engage with each other through written dialogue. Their entire conversation was input into a software program, which collated their written words and output their conversation as reorganized data. The software used strips away the words and only presents the punctuation of the conversation. Klenz and Strand’s conversation is unrecognizable.
Klenz and Strand’s oshibori is not about their actual conversations, but rather functions as a reminder and gesture for people to initiate conversations: to connect, exchange words and reflect on shared thoughts.
